Church of Alaveteli / Iglesia de Alaveteli / L'église d'Alaveteli

In English:

Church of Alaveteli.

This yellow wooden church was built during 1752.1742. It was planned by Matti Honka and expanded by Finnish church builder Heikki Kuorikoski and again in 1889-1890 by Lauri Kuorikoski. The bell tower nearby was built in 1764-1767 and after reparations in 1892 it got its final outward appearance.

Wooden poor man statue is from 1817. If You do not know what are those Wooden poor man statues, then check my blog about them:

Suomeksi:

Alavetelin kirkko.

Alavetelin kirkko on Matti Hongan suunnittelema. Kirkko on rakennettu vuosina 1752–1754. Kirkkoa laajennettiin Heikki Kuorikosken johdolla 1817. Nykyisen asunsa tapuli sai 1892. Sisältä katsottaessa kahdeksan kulmainen kupu on hulppea katsottava.

Alttaritaulun on maalannut Johan Backman.

Vaivaisukko on aika vanha eli vuodelta 1817. Koska pidän näistä koko maailmassa olevista vaivaisukoista, esittelen sitä neljänn kuvan kera. Komea kertakaikkiaan.

Hello j.fialho.

Nao falo portugues!

Thank You visiting my church blog and leaving Your comment.

My idea to photograph churches in my country came from Costa Rica. So far away. Once I got email concerning my garden photos on my home page and we started to exchance messages. He was photographing churches in Costa Rica and was curious to see churches from my country.

So, This is how I got this idea. By now I have been photographed a little bit more than 340 churches in Finland. Of course my intention is nor to present them all, but some beautiful or those with something interesting in those churches, like poor man wooden statues, ships in churches, pulpits, altar pieces and nice separated bell towers.

Un saludo. Carrizo.

Hi! thanks for visiting my blog! nice churches you have there! I have the feeling that they are a little "empty" inside though, don´t you think?. but maybe it´s because i´m used to latin churches (I´m a portuguese living in greece) with baroc paintings and gold sculptures, you know. also the greek ortodox churches are not so rich inside as the catolics. But i hope to see you in my blog again, because for sure that i´ll post some more photos of greek churches. thanks!

Hello Helena.

Well, I have one nice ortodox Finnish church (Uspensky) on my blog:

http://finnish-churches.blogspot.com/2008/07/uspensky-orthodox-cathedral-uspensky.html

Also I have presented orthodox Monastery of Valamo, just check letter V.

I know what You are meaning. Maybe one reason is that, our churches are not rich and then there are some things missing as You see.

One church which I found beautiful is church of Hollola.

Also in some of my churches there are inside ships, yes read right ships and outside poor man statues. I have not seen ever like them when travelling in South America for example.

Anyway, many thanks leaving comment here.

Regards, Carrizo.

Hola Consuelo.

My hobby is photographing churches and other things in Finland. History of our churches starts about from 13th century. There are some specialities in our churches. Such are separated bell towers and carved wooden beggars outside churches. I am living in southern part of Finland about 50 kilometres / 35 miles north of Helsinki (capital of Finland). My other hobbies are South American popular music as Cumbias having them few hundreds records. Also gardening is one of my hobbies. I have been working all my life for our national air line company Finnair and now I am retired from my job. I am in good physical shape due to that I am daily walking much and eating healthful food. Also fast cars are my hobbies. I have car with 280 hp. It is a dream car for me.
