Church of Sääksmäki / Iglesia de Sääksmäki / Église de Sääksmäki / Sääksmäen kirkko

In English:

Church of Sääksmäki is dating from 1495-1505. Bell tower was built in 1507. Thunder destroyed bell tower and it was rebuilt in 1766. Church was renovated in 1924-1935, but it had bad luck again, because it was burned in fire in 1938. Again it was rebuilt and it got its original style and form. Also bell tower was repaired to its more original style.

Suomeksi:

Sääksmäen kirkko ajoittuu vuosiin 1495-1505. Kellotapuli on vuodelta 1507.

Kiitokset kommentista jota arvostan.

Hi Dex.

What a surprise!!! I am really glad to hear from You. Also I highly appreciate Your comment, because You a man who have seen world more than me, although I once travelled around the world via Hawaii to Tokyo. That was in the seventies.

About this church blog. I was thinking long time about what I could tell and show to the world about my country and then I realized that because my hobby is to photograph churches, why not show and tell about them.

You have surely noticed that I am no more blogging in Yahoo 360 and that I have moved to Multiply. Which is better nobody can say, but to find friend who actively makes comments and have interesting blogs is important, You know. I have to confess that I like Yours very much, Dex.

I’ll visit Your home page, be sure. Warm breezes to the South see my friend!

About Me

My photo
My hobby is photographing churches and other things in Finland. History of our churches starts about from 13th century. There are some specialities in our churches. Such are separated bell towers and carved wooden beggars outside churches. I am living in southern part of Finland about 50 kilometres / 35 miles north of Helsinki (capital of Finland). My other hobbies are South American popular music as Cumbias having them few hundreds records. Also gardening is one of my hobbies. I have been working all my life for our national air line company Finnair and now I am retired from my job. Languages are my hobbies also in that way, that at this moment I have been learning Spanish by reading Spanish books. Earlier I was reading French Sci-Fi books during 32 years. I am in good physical shape due to that I am daily walking much and eating healthful food. Also fast cars are my hobbies. I have car with 280 hp. It is a dream car for me. I hope that You enjoy my photos and make Your comments.
